So what’s with the blog title?
So I’ve gotten quite a lot of new followers and readers so I just wanted to take a second to explain my blog title and introduce myself!
So my name is Elisabeth but you can call me Liz. I’m a recent college grad teaching abroad in France and currently figuring out what comes next. The title of my blog is kind of my mantra (or mirror message) and it comes from an iconic song in my favorite movie of all time. That movie is Breakfast At Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn and it’s been my favorite since I was 12 years old. Audrey Hepburn sings Moon River by Henry Mancini and it has always stuck with me.
It’s stuck with me so much that it inspire my first tattoo. That and also having my first experience living abroad of course. It’s because you’re never done exploring, sometimes the world feels small but there is so much more to see.
Wider than a mile
I’m crossin’ you in style
Old dream maker
You heart breaker
Wherever you’re goin’
I’m goin’ your way
Off to see the world
There’s such a lot of world
We’re after the same
Waitin’ round the bend
My huckleberry friend
So now you know! On to the travel tag…
Thank you to Stephanie for tagging me in this! Let’s begin.
Where is your favorite place you have visited?
It’s so hard to pick one singular place….I’d say a tie between Paris and NYC. NYC was basically my first exciting trip. I was 15 and I got to see a Broadway play and the statue of liberty and so much more. I even saw the Tiffany’s from my favorite movie. I think this is what interested me in traveling in the first place.
Also Paris because it was really my first big International trip a place I had been dreaming about for so long. Both trips were dream destinations and very magical I was not disappointed.
If you could visit anywhere tomorrow, where would you pick?
If I could visit anywhere I would pick something far away that I wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to visit. I would choose Australia, South Africa or Japan!
Would you rather go on a city holiday or a beach holiday?
I would definitely rather go on a city holiday! I’m such a city person I like to be able to have a large range of activities I can do. I like to relax on holidays sure but mostly be busy. A beach holiday just seems like a lot of lying around and being sweaty and covered in sand.
What are 3 of your holiday essentials?
- My phone (for navigation purposes, photos, communication, etc)
- My purse (to store my water, snack, maps and more)
- Notebook (to list where and what I want to do, food suggestions, hard copy of directions and address for accommodations just in case)
Are you an Over-Packer or an Under-Packer?
I think I’ve recently become an under-packer in my fears of having my luggage be overweight. I always manage to forget like one major thing and it’s awful.
What is your favorite thing about going on holidays?
My favorite thing about holidays is trying new things or doing something I never thought I would do! A change of scenery overall is always nice but it’s the getting out of your comfort zone part when you get to explore a new culture.
What is one place you would never want to visit?
*Unpopular opinion* Italy. I’ve just never really had the desire to go. Maybe it’s because when I worked in a study abroad office everyone and their mom would say and I quote, “Italy is my dream!!!!”. Maybe one day but it’s not a priority.
Who would you rather go on a holiday with, family or friends?
What is the most adventurous dish you have tried from another country?
Probably snails or whenever I went to a fancy restaurant in Paris with a menu that was like indecipherable and we had no idea what we actually ordered.
Who do you want to do this travel tag?
and anyone else who wants to!
