So my 23rd birthday was three days ago and seriously what a crazy year it has been. This time last year I didn’t know that I’d be celebrating my next birthday in France that’s for sure.
22 was a roller coaster during this year I proposed and wrote my 33 page French thesis succesfully, I got a student grant to do research in Montreal and Quebec, graduated with honors, got inducted to another honor society, got nominated for student worker of the year for working at the study abroad office, had my last days at my wonderful job there, got accepted to teach in France, worked for Girl Scouts in the summer, had my last summer in Kalamazoo, sadly moved out of Kzoo, road tripped to the Upper Penninsula for the first time AND moved to France and started this crazy adventure. Although not everything is going great in the world obviously, I still have hope for 2017.
So for my birthday this year I decided to take the weekend to celebrate in Strasbourg and explore the Christmas Markets with friends. It was pretty crowded but also worth the trip. I didn’t recognize parts of the city because everything is decorated and Christmas lights are just about everywhere. Another cluster of stalls that makeup a market everywhere you turn. Also tarte flambée, hot wine (vin chaud) and bretzels (soft pretzels).
The lights are spectacular and everywhere.
These are what the stores and market stalls look like. Very very crowded too.
I also got to exploring Petite France throughly and walking through and above this covered bridge.
That is all for now, thank you for all the birthday wishes and more to come as I head to Germany this weekend to meet my cousins there and Paris later this month as my family joins me in France!!
